Hi Michael,

I like the idea of the HH mounted behind the boot panel.  ( www.vk3egc.org 
/ photo tab )I have an old FT-470 with a dead battery which could fill the 
bill.  I could put the GPS antenna on the boot parcel shelf and use a 
glass on glass antenna.  It would look almost like a car phone antenna and 
be very visually inconspicuous.

I have an IC-706mkIIG installed into my AU ser2 SR ford, 
have aprs with a yaesu ft23r ( www.vk3egc.org / photo tab ) all ok. 
but when I'm on 40 Mtr on the Icom the Car alarm siren go's mental
when I transmit at 100 watts into the famparc Antenna, if I turn the 
power down to 50 watts no problems.... and this is with a car thats
 8 years old, I would hate to try a new car, no thanks.....
