[OZAPRS] RE: Analysis of "missing" data from aprs.fi

In response to the information that data injected via second.aprs.net.au is
not appearing at aprs.fi, I did some extensive testing of the APRS servers
and the interconnectivity between them over the last couple of days, and I
believe I have found the issue and resolved it.

 

There was a very minor config error on second.aprs.net.au (a control
character embedded in a username string) that appears to have been affecting
traffic that had second.aprs.net.au as the FIRST server in the connection
path.

 

Data coming into second from IGates connected to it were being passed
without any issues, but if you connected via the internet as an end user
directly to second this is where the problem seems to have been.

 

Anyway I believe the issue has been resolved - Please let me know if it is
indeed fixed.

 

My test below shows VK2XJG connected directly to second.aprs.net.au
(SECOND-AU) and this data is being seen on all three CORE servers and also
T2FINLAND where aprs.fi is hosted.

I agree with Brian.

When I log on and send my home beacon through second.aprs.net.au:14579, 

it does not appear on aprs.fi - at all - it seems to me.

If I log onto first.aprs.net.au , my home beacons appears promptly on 

aprs.fi.

I have emailed Geoff before who said the system had undergone some 

maintenance but it hasn't fixed what I see as an anomaly.
