[OZAPRS] Sydney CBD Digi Upgrade - sort of.

An update on the Sydney CBD Digi issues from Thursday . . .

VK2US-1 in the Sydney CBD now appears to be back to normal operation.
We actually have no idea what the problem was, which is leaving us all a
little miffed. We'll keep a close eye on it for any further problems.

We have an additional site visit that will be planned in the next few
months
to relocate the digipeater into a better enclosure (currently in a wooden
box on top of a metal comms cabinet), and at the same time install the
70cm
digipeater VK2US-2.

Reminder to all that the path to use in the Sydney area and across VK2 is
now WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 and that RELAY and TRACEn-N will not be supported
once VK2RAG-1 and AMW-1 have completed their upgrades.

Regards,
Geoff VK2XJG

Well we managed to swap out the EPROM in VK2JPJ-1 this afternoon and give
the system a health check.

The digi is now VK2US-1 and fully supports the New-N, which means that the
TRACEn-N paths no longer work.

Unfortunately it looks like we did something to the system whilst putting
it
all back in the cabinet and it APPEARS that whilst it is receiving, the
Transmit leg from the digi is not real hot. Listening to it on the drive
home it sounds to be slightly over-deviating, which is causing problematic
decode by the other digis and even the IGate. Potentially the TX Level
pot
in the TNC got bumped up whilst swapping the EPROM.

I'll be checking things out remotely tonight to try and diagnose the
problem
remotely, and we'll need to arrange another site visit to get it all back
into working order.

Apologies for killing the main Sydney digi :-( as it does drastically
affect
the coverage around Sydney without it.

Hopefully something very minor and can be fixed in the very near future.
