Gentlemen,
I intend to leave Brisbane for the Wyong field day this afternoon.

I will be traveling from Brisbane down the Gold Coast then on to
Lismore. Tonight. From there to the New England Highway then on to
Wyong by Friday Night.

As there is virtually no APRS activity from the Gold Coast until
Newcastle There would be no position reports between these two locations.

I will be using some experimental software on my PDA that sends the
reports via the GPRS network.when I am out of range of the Amateur
network.

I would appreciate any reports on the success of the trials.

It has been working around Brisbane without problems over the last week or
so.

The callsign will be VK4ZF-10. Transmission times will be 60 seconds
when using the amateur network and 5 minutes using GPRS. The text
comment will change with the GPRS transmissions as well to."via GPRS
from my PDA"

Fingers crossed all goes well.

See you in Wyong

David

I will add you to my APRS auto -reconnect telnet perl script.

Drive safe.

Are they paying you to do drive surveys ?

Hi Dave

Looking forward to seeing you at Wyong. If anyone can help out on the APRS
stand at Wyong that would be great. If not, just drop in and say Hi. We
will
have an Ethernet network running if people want to set up a computer
showing
stuff...

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the info .. I guess I couldn't get in as I was running
RELAY,WIDE2-2 when it should be WIDE,WIDE2-2 ... But having looked at the
VK1 setup url I am now even more confused :-)

A) I live 28Km north of VK2AMW-4 and it hears me every day using
Relay,Wide2-2
B) Similarly, I am 107km North of VK2AMW-2 and it hears me on good
propagation days
C) I managed to get one posit via VK2TVZ-1 at 2007-02-11 00:12:49 using
the
"wrong" paradigm ..

Are the VK2AMW digis and VK2TVZ setup for the new paradigm yet as I can't
understand how I get into them with the "wrong" setup?

Cheers

Here,

http://vk1npw.no-ip.org/vk1nfi/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3
0&
Itemid=41

are digis listed as, in SENSW,

VK2AMW-2 Mt Boyne, 108Km ESE of Canberra, near Batemans Bay.

VK2AMW-3 Nerriga 89Km NE of Canberra

VK2AMW-4 Sth Nowra 120Km SW of Sydney

VK2TVZ-1 Kalkite 118 Km SW of Canberra

So my guess is they are new paradigm with RELAY backward compatibility.
We did it for about 2 weeks till everyone changed over, RELAY is now
obsolete in Northern Tasmania.

Your path shouldn't be 'WIDE,WIDE2-2', but 'WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2'. Eventually

WIDE will become obsolete, it is in Northern Tasmania.

Dion.
