Speaking of VK3 being open, it didn't occur to me when I setup the dash
on the hilux, that for the passenger, the ipod is behind the D7, until
the GF took over driving at Seymour, and I went to skip a song and
notice the D7 had been changed from the 'VK1APRS' (the normal 145.175)
to 'VK3APRS' (144.8? whatever the old vk3 was) freq..  Yet the funny
thing was, I hadn't noticed, cause it had been happily chirping away
hearing itself and quite a few other stations along the way until I
noticed it going past the wangaratta turnoff..

Looks like there's still an igate or a few home stations sitting on the
old freq?

PS, Side note, switched antennas on the D7, seems all my issues have
been the whopping huge Andrews comms antenna I bought specifically for
the D7.. put it over onto the old 2m/70cm 4.5/6dB DSE antenna, and it's
working great!  GRRR :(

PPS, APRS coverage around the east coast is pretty darned good :)  only
black spot is northish of yass, but then, there's no GSM out there
either!

We have been inundated with VK3 over the past few days.  When the lift
comes, and one of the central VK3 digi's get's into 1RGI, this is not a
bad
thing, as you mention Tony, it can indeed be a good indicator for 2m
voice
conditions.

Two days ago, there was an opening on 144.100 into VK4, and there were
VK4's
opening the RGI voice repeater here, so the conditions haven't been too
bad
at all.  10M has been firing quite well also.

There are actually 4 VK7 -9 mobiles in my list presently.. So the
propagation is happening if you want to try and work some distances on
2m
SSB I suggest its worth a check..
