[OZAPRS] AMW-1

Geoff and Phil,

As I travel from Homebush to Gerroa and back each day, I thought I'd give
you some feedback on the new amw-1 ..

There seems to be pluses and minuses ..

++ I am able to get positions heard in a lot of places that I couldn't
before, such as at the start of the F6 at Waterfall and many more in the
Kiama/Gerroa area directly heard by amw-1
++ I tracked VK2ZSZ-9 who was first heard by amw-1 not far from Goulburn
and then off and on again from around Bundanoon through to near
Campbelltown.
++ AMW-2 is being heard quite frequently now
++ AMW-4 was heard once or twice this afternoon (but I think -4 is not
100%??)
-- I don't seem to be able to resolve as many positions on my d700 as
before .. Maybe it is slightly off the ideal setup on TX? Even though I
had almost full signal strength I wasn't getting anything displayed on my
d700. The further away I was from amw-1 the more I could resolve ...

During the above, there wasn't any DX conditions on 2M so I guess this
performance will be the norm ..

By the way, where is amw-4's new location?

Cheers
Ian vk2him

Phil,

Its interesting that AMW-2 is now working and has been sending its ident
every 30 mins since you turned on AMW-1 with the new paradigm ... AMW-4
is still down though ....

G'day Phil,

Thanks for getting it back up and running, I see it started approx 11:00am
today ... Is there plans to relocate it as its ident says "Maddens Plains"
although it appears to be in the same location at the top of Macquarie
Pass?

Cheers, Ian vk2him

VK2AMW-1 update

Greetings all , well I think I finally have "Murphy" sorted out , I have
had the 828 and TNC on the bench for the past 24hours and all looks good ,
so time for trip #4 to the repeater site tomorrow and all should be good
.. as a book title implied "A series of Unfortunate Events" well that was
certainly the case for me. :-(

Anyway all looking good now , thanks for your patience as I intended to
have this thing running properly weeks ago.
BTW I expect to see AMW-2 back on the screen , also to be re-named VK2RBT
in the new year.

Cheers all , Phil , VK2EMD
