Gday,

With the VK3 Frequency Change Project well behind us I though it would be
a
good time to introduce the 'New n-N Paradigm'.

The 'New n-N Paradigm' is the latest APRS pathing scheme that is already
being used by a number of Australian states, the US, ZL and parts of EU.
It
will also be standard in the new Kenwood TM-D710 which will be released in
VK later this year.

The idea behind the 'New n-N Paradigm' is to reduce duplicate APRS packets
and long paths from the APRS RF Network and free up some air time.

The 'New n-N Paradigm' removes the old RELAY,WIDE and RELAY,WIDE2-2 paths
and replaces them with the path of WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 for mobiles and [your
local digi],WIDE2-1 for home and fixed stations.

To implement the 'New n-N Paradigm' all you need to do is edit the APRS
path
in your tracker, Kenwood radio or home station and change it to;

- WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1 for your mobile.

- [Your local Digi],Wide2-1 for your home station. ( Replace [Your local
Digi] with the closest digipeater to you )

In a few instances you may need to use the path of WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2 for
mobiles.

For the recommended path in your area visit
http://vk3.aprs.net.au/packet_path_guide.htm

All VK3 Digipeaters are already programmed to accept the 'New n-N
Paradigm'
so you can change your path as soon as you like.

The old RELAY,WIDE path support will slowly be removed from all VK3
Digipeaters over the next year or so.

Cheers

Richard

VK3JFK
