Whilst HF is the topic. A reminder on the Targa Tasmania associated APRS
exercise. This will be from 18 - 22 April and involves tracking two cars
"ZERO"
and SWEEP" as they move along the course.
Leg 1 on 18 April is between Launceston and Devonport, returning to
Launceston.
Leg 2 on 19 April is Launceston to Hobart, down the East Coast
Leg 3 on 20 April is around Hobart
Leg 4 on 21 April is Hobart to Burnie through the Midlands and North West
Leg 5 on 22 April is Burnie to Hobart down the West Coast and South West.
The Mt Arrowsmith stage of Leg 5 is a hard one to cover and the plan
includes
one VHF to HF (30m) cross digi. Traffic will be for two short bursts of
about 15
minutes, probably around 11:30 am and 1:00pm. Will be using an IC-706
with a
AH-4 tuner into a AH-2b whip, or something better (probably long wire) if
conditions allow (not unusual for snow at this point in the proceedings).
I
hope someone will pick us up somewhere!
The rest of the event will be serviced by fixed VHF digis and two or three
in-fill portable VHF.
Cheers
Roger vk7arn

Need to remember that depending on the TNC used you need to adjust your
frequency.
With a TT3 10.14760 works ok, but a PK232 needs to be set at 10.14709 I
think
the Open tracker is different yet again....
See the link for detail on TNC's

Reading thru my KPC-3 manual, it does a 1000 Hz shift at 300 Baud.
Now HF is different shift is it not ?
I see the opentracker does 300 baud, but at what shift ?
