Athlon X2600+
ECS KT600-A mobo

I have seen many CPUs which fail when they get hot. This is the first
time I've ever seen one which won't run when its cold!!! Not real cold,
Winter's morning room temperature... like 12 or so deg c

With each attempt at booting, it gets a little further until it finally
makes it to operation. After a short run, it reboots every time. If it's

been off for an hour or so, no go!

I had to heat the damned thing with a hot air gun to get it to boot!

I was able to direct a stream of warm air directly onto the heatsink
without heating too much of the mobo, and lo and behold it burst into
life!

Has anyone else seen this?

Any other clues? I don't want to have to replace the mobo and CPU and I
cant find a replacement CPU.
