Think I found something

The d700 can handle 10 connections at once.

That is heaps.

We can use a d700 at HQ and then the remote sites can just pump data in
and
ax25 takes care of the data for me.

Here is what I have played with so far:-

  1) UI packets just sent to air with no ack or anything (assuming path is
good and you are go to send)
  2) APRS messaging packets (with ACK)
  3) AX25 connected mode then logoff - let the AX25 take care of
handshaking

We send check point number, time , and horses going past at that time

I want to use linux at HQ, and I have had good success with PERL on the
serial port.

  HORSE,3,10:00,1,2,3,4,5
  HORSE,3,10:01,6,7,8,9,10

Why am I doing this ? the end result will be a PHP delivered MySQL table
of the current horse data.

I can not seem to see a full solution - it is bits and pieces

  Often is tho

I guess my question would be how are the messages formatted when sent
out the serial port of the T2 ( I suppose I should test this in my own
house rather than ask aloud on the sig).... consider this:
Remote station sends me a message.
I get the message and the T2 sends it out the serial port.
Remote station never hears my ACK
    Remote station sends message again.
I get the message and the T2 sends it out the serial port.

Is the message number included in the text so I can keep up with
what's
a dupe and what's new?

If a hardware solution would be acceptable, the Tracker2 might do
what
you want. It'll display incoming messages and send ACKs, and you can send
messages from the command prompt with automatic retries. It only queues
one
outgoing message at a time though, due to lack of buffer space.

Should have some more beta boards available before long...

I have found a solution to my messaging issue.

I found I can use xastir as the HQ computer, and because messages
sent
to xastir appear on the local port 2023, it makes it REALLY easy to then
use
xastir to take care of the acks, and just use perl to grab data off
port2023
