Subject: [OZAPRS] /MM APRS Timestamps via WinLink

Hello All,

I have just been looking at 6 yachts plotted on the Australia Map. All
are providing APRS data via WinLink.

I note that in every report the timestamp sent as part of the position
report must be part of a "secret message" ... Though its sent as a APRS
"z" timestamp (DDHHMMz) it does not appear to correlate to any sensible
time ... Some are in the future, others are days (or even weeks) old.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Merv Joyce (VK4ZE)
