Hello,
Me again!
I've found a reasonable price for a D-700A, but before I finally commit to
buying, I have some more questions:
Is there a specific version of firmware I need to ensure I get? (The G2.0
version?)
How can I tell what firmware is fitted? By serial number?
Is there a list of serial number ranges versus firmware, somewhere?

Subject: [OZAPRS] Best place to get a D-700A ?
Hi All,
OK, I've finally decided to get a Kenwood D-700A... but have now
discovered
they are almost A$1400 list price, and seem to sell for approx A$1200
each.
Ouch! (My budget was for less than A$1000).
I was trying to work out the best place to buy one, by searching on
google,
and I see that these units sell in the US at "Gigaparts" for US$495, which
is A$727
(See http://www.gigaparts.com/parts/radioinfo/zkw-tm-d700a.php)
Unfortunately, Gigaparts doesn't seem well setup to ship to Australia (US
Postal Service seems to charge an arm and a leg for postage to deepest
darkest Australia), so suddenly this isn't as attractive as it first
seemed.
So my question to the list is : "Where is the best place to buy a D-700A
from, for use in VK6?"
Thanks in advance for your insights!

Chris
