[OZAPRS] NMEA Versions.

Can somebody tell me what the difference is (simply put)  between NMEA
0183 version 1.5 and version 2.0?

What I really need to know is :-
Will hardware devices, or software programs, specified to run off a GPS
outputting version 1.5 also work if a later model GPS specified as
outputting version 2.0 is attached?
